Dave Mustaine Enforces A MEGADETH Dress Code According To Former Guitarist

"He wanted you to carry yourself a certain way… Well I mean all you have to do is look at my attire when I was in there."

"He wanted you to carry yourself a certain way… Well I mean all you have to do is look at my attire when I was in there."

Chris Broderick was Megadeth's guitarist from 2008 to 2014, at which point he quit and formed Act Of Defiance alongside ex-Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover. Broderick sat down with Bad Wolves and Vagus Nerve guitarist Doc Coyle for his The Ex Man podcast and revealed that Dave Mustaine implemented a dress code and code of conduct of sorts while he was in the band.

Broderick says Mustaine preferred for everyone's hair to be not in a ponytail and called the shots on who wore what on stage.

"He wanted you to carry yourself a certain way… Well I mean all you have to do is look at my attire when I was in there… So I wore a button up shirt on stage 90% of the time, it would be different requirements like that."

"This is when I first realized something we were talking about before this podcast, where you were talking about 50% of it’s the music and 50% of it’s the image. Up until Megadeth for me it was: ‘No it’s 100% music.'"

"Because it goes a little into the understanding of human psychology… The way the band is perceived, the way we carry ourselves."

While I think it's pretty easy to call Mustaine out in this situation, it's also worth keeping in mind that Megadeth is essentially a business at this point and Mustaine seems to be conducting it as such.
