The Hellraisers of the Waste want you, the masses who refuse to give in to the tyranny of the elite and the ignorant. The oppressors need to be removed, their bones turned to weapons and ingredients for black magick. The revolution is coming and at the crest of the wave is the Montreal quartet of Lüger. The sleazy speed metal/rock band recently released their newest album, Hellraisers of the Waste, which is packed to the brim with wasteland anthems and fist pounding, headbanging riffs.
Tracks like "Scavenging the Ruins" emphasize the band's penchant for feverish thrash. On the other hand, "Beneath the Red Sun" and "Lust Paradise" almost convey a desert rock psychedelia. Elsewhere, "Snakebait" revels in seedy classic rock tropes. Taking it piece by piece, there are individual moments that certainly stand out. Still, as a whole, Hellraisers of the Waste is a thrill ride from start to finish. It has the dystopian touch of Mad Max with all the swagger and debauchery that came with 80's rock.
