Monday Morning Massacre: THE BLOOD MOUNTAIN BLACK METAL CHOIR's Debut Demo Is Excellent

A mix of Panopticon and Këkht Aräkh, it seems.

Monday morning massacre

Need something to kick your Monday off to a rip-roaring start? I've got you covered with the brand new Monday Morning Massacre segment. Check out my pick of the week below, and check out all the previous iterations right here.

The Blood Mountain Black Metal Choir just dropped their first-ever demo and I'll say it right now – this band is going to be a bigger deal in the black metal world, should they continue to release music at a regular clip. The Blood Mountain Black Metal Choir feels like a mix of Panopticon and Këkht Aräkh with its own sense of melancholy thrown in for good measure. Long story short, do not sleep on The Blood Mountain Black Metal Choir's first demo. It's a killer.

"The Appalachian Mountains are best known for its deep and rich folklore surrounding mythical creatures and ominous happenings throughout its magical rolling hills," wrote The Blood Mountain Black Metal Choir of the demo.

"But the true story of the region is much less fantastical and much more despairing. The region has a long and painful history of exploitation of natural resources, abuse of labor rights, genocide of indigenous peoples, addiction, and a plague of predatory evangelism. This 5-track demo seeks to address some of the pains of the place I call home. This demo was recorded late 2022 through early 2023 but never found a proper home until now."

Demo I is available here on Bandcamp.
