SUMAC's New Song "Attis' Blade" Is Fifteen Minutes Of Improv, Riff-Heavy Goodness

Sumac does no wrong.

Sumac does no wrong.

Sumac's compositions are generally pretty long and rewarding listens. They err heavily on the side of improv but never feel like they go really far off the rails. These two ideas are exemplified perfectly in the band's new song "Attis' Blade," which frontman and guitarist Aaron Turner says  marries "fully realized structures to freely improvised movements."

Sumac will release their new album Love In Shadow on September 21 and will tour for the release with Dalek and Infernal Coil.

"It's refreshing to hear a band operate within a musical sphere that's decidedly off the deep end with this much clarity of purpose."
