200 STAB WOUNDS Frontman Credits SANGUISUGABOGG For Raising Up Ohio Death Metal

Shout out to Devin Swank.

Steve Buhl

Ohio death metal has been coming up strong in recent years… but why? What the hell is in the water over there that's creating so many brutal bands? According to 200 Stab Wounds frontman Steve Buhl in an interview with The Garza Podcast, Ohio has always had great bands. It just took Sanguisugabogg getting bigger to really lift 'em all up.

"I think we're slept on I mean, there's always been bands [coming from Ohio]," said Buhl as transcribed by Metal Injection. "The thing about it is like, there's always been bands. We've been playing a bands forever, like even separate bands that we did, but I don't know why all of a sudden it's popping off.

"The bands have always been great. I just think people are just starting to take notice and [Sanguisugabogg], for at least Ohio, definitely kicked all that off. There were bands before them, but as far as people knowing and caring about shit outside of Ohio, Bogg definitely kicked that off for sure. They put us on.

"[Vocalist Devin Swank] is the one that got us pretty much… not signed, but like started working with Maggot Stomp and all that. So yeah, if it wasn't for that no one would probably know who the fuck we were. I think it's just everyone helping each other out and trying to not keep everything just to themselves, you know? Bogg helped us out a lot with introducing us to people, or showing people our music or whatever, or taking us out on tour.

"They took us on our first tour. Yeah, our very first tour ever. It was like, five days and then we did that [Cannibal Corpse] tour with them which was much later. But yeah dude, Bogg puts on for us. They're sick."

200 Stab Wounds will hit the road with Frozen Soul, Judiciary, and Tribal Gaze this November. Get your tickets here.
