Olve "Abbath" Eikemo split with Immortal in 2015. Abbath said he felt forced to go solo because the band wasn't going anywhere, while Immortal accused him of stealing their material and blamed his departure on personal issues. Immortal has since continued on as guitarist and vocalist Harald "Demonaz" Nævdal and drummer Reidar "Horgh" Horghagen, and released a new album Northern Chaos Gods in 2018. Abbath has released two solo albums since his departure.
In a recent edition of Dagbladet Magasinet, Abbath said he'd be down to reunite with his former bandmates in Immortal. He also added Horgh text him after he got sober, but he and Demonaz haven't spoken.
"Immortal reunion? Hmm. I got a text from Horgh saying it was great that I got sober. Harald and I haven’t spoken at all. But there's no evil blood or bitterness on my part anymore. I realize that I was a part of the problem. Things are great for me now. But am I open to an Immortal reunion? Yes, of course. But it has to be something special. I just wish we could sit down and have a talk about things when it all went to hell, instead of involving lawyers."
