AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson is doing a lot of talking in anticipation of the band's big comeback release, Power Up, out this Friday. He recently discussed Axl Rose filling in for him, as well as how he got his hearing to a place where he can perform again.
First, he had nothing but nice things to say for Guns N Roses frontman Axl Rose, who stepped in to fill on on some tour dates with Johnson couldn't perform due to his hearing issues. Speaking to Ultimate Classic Rock, Johnson said: "He jumped into a tough, tough vocalist gig. You've got to be on top of your game for that. There's not many resting places. You've really got to go in full chop, all of the time. And for him to do that at such short notice was pretty fantastic. I've got a lot of respect for what he did, you know. A lot of respect."
Elsewhere, on Yahoo Music, Johnson spoke about how he got his hearing fixed. "Technology comes along," Brian said about his new top-secret hearing device. "It's a wonderful world. Now technology moves faster and faster. And this fabulous man had an idea he wanted to share with me. And we got together, worked for about two and a half years on this thing."
Johnson talks about trying the device during their recent music video shoot, the first time they've played live at full force together. "It was a case of Brian working [with the hearing technology] even before we got together for the album; he'd been working it out with these people and he was getting a lot of great results, and kept us updated," Angus said. "Brian was really happy with the technology, and he'd tested it in different environments. … So, when we said we were going to get together in the new studio, I knew straight away that if he was saying that, he was ready."
We're so glad Brian is doing better and look forward to the album tomorrow.
