Metal isn't going to pay the bills, so hearing about some of your heroes' day jobs is usually pretty interesting. We already knew At The Gates frontman Tomas Lindberg is a middle school social studies teacher, but apparently he's also taken his class to one of his band's shows!
Lindberg tells EMP LIVE TV (below) that his students are stoked he's in a band, but they're not really into metal.
"[My students are] really excited about [me being in the band]. I mean, they're not metalheads at all. They're, like, 11, 12 years old right now. But they came to a show when we played Gothenburg, and they got backstage and everything and got to take pictures with the band, and they were super excited. So, I guess, in that way, I might be the cool teacher, but I try not to be."
They're kids – of course they think their teacher being in a big band is awesome. The interview also touches on the important topic of whether or not Lindberg is a cool teacher.
"I'm probably the good teacher, I guess. We have a good relationship. I think all education starts with a relationship with the students."
Now we all get to stew in our jealousy that we never really had teachers that cool.
