Last year, Metallica and Lady Gaga on the main show, this year, Body Count on the pre-show. The Grammys certainly get some points for trying to integrate metal back into their annual award celebration.
The award nominations are pretty diverse this year (they even kept Metallica out of the metal category, and nominated them in the rock category).To keep the diversity going, they invited Ice-T and his group Body Count to perform on the show. Ice made the announcement on Twitter:

The pre-show is where the Metal award has been given out for over a decade now, and is typically streamed for free on the web. But a performance is a performance and Ice is going to bring his A-game.
