Anders Iwers has been filling in with Dark Tranquillity on bass since 2015 and even played on the band's new album, Atoma. So it's not surprising that Dark Tranquillity ask Iwers to join the band full time, right?
Iwers is also another connection between Dark Tranquillity and In Flames, seeing as he helped found In Flames as guitarist alongside Jesper Strömblad in 1990. Then Mikael Stanne joined In Flames on vocals in 1993, who was replaced by then-Dark Tranquillity vocalist Anders Fridén. Six degrees of metal separation!
Anyway, here's what Dark Tranquillity had to say about Iwers.
“We’re happy to announce mr. Anders Iwers (known from his work with Tiamat, Avatarium and Ceremonial Oath) as a full member of the band! As most of you know, he has been handling bass duties live for quite a while now, as well as doing a fantastic job playing on “Atoma“, so we’re very pleased to get rid of the “session” tag and officially welcome him to the fold.”
Oh, and don't forget to check out the new Dark Tranquillity song here. It's awesome.
