A few weeks ago, legendary Boston hardcore act Blood For Blood cancelled upcoming shows in Boston and New York. While they weren't releasing much reasoning for the cancellation, rumors started to spread it was due to the arrest of frontman Erick Medina. Rumors began circulating that it was due to Medina drunkenly pinning a thirteen year old girl down against a wall at a Memorial Day BBQ and forcibly kissing her. The Gauntlet reports that they spoke to sources close to the band and this is what they said:
A source close to the band has confirmed to The Gauntlet that there has been an "accusation of rape made against and 'Buddha' [Erick Medina] about a month ago, but at this time I have no details regarding this except for he was arrested and booked for rape. I tried texting him on Monday but haven't heard back from him."
We were told the incident happened at a BBQ over Memorial Day weekend where Medina got a bit drunk pinned a 13 year old girl against a wall and began kissing her as she struggled. The Massachusetts department of social services Department of Children and Family has already investigated the incident.
While people were quick to dismiss the rumors, today Blood For Blood released a vague official statement kicking the frontman out of the band:
Make no mistake, the nature of the alleged activity, true or false, is an affront to EVERYTHING this band is about. Some of the members of this band have been mistreated and abused as a children, personally. We would never, COULD never ignore, condone, or even associate with such behavior. At this time we are too emotionally drained to make plans for the band's future, but due to the nature of these allegations, we feel it is impossible to continue with anyone linked to such allegations, thus, whatever the future holds for Blood For Blood, it will not include Erick. Lastly, We are unable to make concrete plans for the band's future.
Clearly, if the accusations weren't true, the band wouldn't be kicking out their frontman, and instead would be standing by him. There has been no denial of the accusations. We can't really know for sure because the Massachusetts police department is not releasing any sort of documents on the matter due to a minor being involved. If charged, Medina could face up to 10 years in prison.
