Update: David Vincent has seemingly announced his exit from the band, without outright saying it. Here is his new statement.
The Morbid Angel drama train rolls on. At the beginning of the week, guitarist Trey Azagthoth announced he and former vocalist Steve Tucker would begin working on new Morbid Angel tunes. Shortly after Tim Yeung announced he was leaving the band for "financial reasons." This was all news to David Vincent who declared he's aware of the new project but he's still the frontman of Morbid Angel. That seemed really funny to returning vocalist Steve Tucker.
But what's not funny? The band's other guitarist, Norwegian guitarist Destructhor (Thor AndersMyrhen on his birth certificate) has left the band as well. He issued the following statement to Blabbermouth:
“I would like to announce that I, Destructhor, as well am out of Morbid Angel. Due to issues of them wanting to work with someone more local. Actually pretty good news to me, since I personally decided to leave Morbid Angel after the last tour we did in Europe in November/December 2014. It is definitely time for me to move on with the Norwegian extreme act Myrkskog. This is where I truly belong and exciting things are happening! A new record is being released next year with coming tours, festivals and so on. So it’s time to step it up and prepare for war with my Norwegian/Swedish brothers in Myrkskog. As for Morbid Angel, I wish them all the best with everything! It’s been a lot of great experiences! No hard feelings at all and may the future bring us all to another dimension!”
So basically, Morbid Angel now consists of either David Vincent all by himself, or guitarist Trey Azagthoth and vocalist Steve Tucker.
Personally, I'd like to thank the band for airing all of this in public, so we can all grab popcorn and enjoy.
