Jim Root Claims STONE SOUR Fired Him Over The Phone

The separation of Stone Stour and guitarist Jim Root is certainly an awkward one. Root split guitar duties between Stone Stour and Slipknot, similar to vocalist Corey Taylor.

Even more awkward then his firing from the band is the method in which he was fired. In a new interview with Australia's Music Feeds, Root revealed he was fired over the phone:

"I still haven't talked to certain guys in that band [Stone Sour], so I really don't know what they were thinking or a hundred percent of the reason why they made the decision that they made. I mean, it was basically put to me over a phone call and I thought that was pretty lame. Whatever, it is what it is. Onward and upward. I think I have a little bit of a different opinion on how music should be done anyway. Maybe it is for the better."

Previously, Root complained of the stresses of juggling two bands and that he would urge Stone Sour to cut down on the touring so he could focus on Slipknot, but they chose to keep going.

"I was mad because Stone Sour wanted to go do a tour and they didn't want me to be a part of it. So I had a little anger, and I had a little bit of depression. I was kind of hurt. But at the same time, it was probably all for the better, because I wasn't really happy in that band anymore."

Man, the conversations he and Corey Taylor must be having nowadays have to be kind of awkward, no?
