You might remember 2016 as the year where basically everyone in Ghost who wasn't Tobias Forge quitting the band. That meant Forge had to start putting together a new lineup to tour and eventually start doing new music, and one of the drummers he asked to replace Martin Hjertstedt was now-Bullet For My Valentine drummer Jason Bowld.
Bowld tells AltPress he had been drumming live and as a session dude with Bullet For My Valentine on and off since 2010, and felt like Bullet was a better choice.
“Bullet came along that same week. I started playing with the band in 2010 as a session drummer, filled in and didn’t think anything else after that. Then Matt called me at the end of 2015. A week turned into a month, a month turned into three months and here I am. It feels like a natural progression. Shit happens in bands all the time, and you just have to move on with it. I’m the new drummer and loving it, quite frankly.”
As far as we know, Ghost currently has drummer Jan-Vincent Velazco (Diamond Black, Menace) drumming for them live.
