Former Suffocation guitarist Guy Marchais has revealed he is battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a blood cancer affecting the body's immune system.
The disease is curable but requires extensive testing and with medical bills racking up, Guy is turning to the metal world for a some help. He launched a GoFundMe for $100,000 with the money going towards medical bills, writing:
On January 19th, 2018, we found out that Guy Marchais was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a blood cancer effecting the body’s immmune system and lymph nodes. This comes just 80 days after his niece was diagnosed with the same exact thing. Although not genetic, lighting struck twice in our family. I’m calling to everyone to donate what you can. Even with health insurance, bills are piling up in the thousands. There are many more tests to be done before starting his treatment plan on February 5th, which includes chemo and possibly radiation. Our family is struggling and could really use your help.
The metal community is already rallying around Guy, with over $6,000 donated at the time of this posting.
Former Suffo bandmate Terrance Hobbs writes in with his donation "I know you're a long way from your goal, but it wouldn't be right if I didn't help, love ya Guy, and i wish you the best and a speedy recovery …"
Charred Walls of the Damned drummer Richard Christy donated and commented "Guy, so sorry to hear about this and hope you get better very soon!"
