The bummer news this weekend goes to the passing of former Motorhead guitarist "Wurzel" who suffered heart disease at age 61. Michael "Wurzel" Burston left behind a decades worth of music with Motorhead, a couple solo records, and was reportedly in the middle of creating a record with his new band Leader of Down. Motorhead frontman, Lemmy Kilmister, addressed the Sonisphere Festival crowd yesterday saying "We'd like to dedicate this set and our lives to Würzel."
Drummer, Mikkey Dee also talked to Swedish newspaper Expressen about his former bandmate. "He was wonderful. He wrote lots of fucking great MOTÖRHEAD riffs. I remember missing that when he was not in the band anymore. I missed the simple, classic MOTÖRHEAD riffs. We never wrote those after that. They ended with him."
