This past weekend, Tool performed one of only a handful performances they've had in 2016, as they are hard at work on their new album, which is in the oven, with long songs and is awesome and coming soon.
But, we have some bad news. Drummer Danny Carey has reportedly developed a serious staph infection on his leg. The news was revealed by guitarist Adam Jones on his Instagram page, with Jones writing:
I truly have to respect Mr. Danny Carey who played the entire show with a very serious Staph Infection. At first on Friday morning he was misdiagnosed with a poisonous spider bite on his upper leg. Then later Friday night the quarter sized wound was cut opened & drained. By Saturday DC was still aching from head to toe & from what I heard the Local Doctor recommended we skip the show. But Dan, with headaches & painful joints played anyway…
Carey is the ultimate trooper for going through with the show, and we commend him for powering though and wish him a speedy recovery. Selfishly, I hope this won't further delay the new TOOL album, but what's most important is that Danny gets better.
Earlier this morning, we posted footage of Tool playing an extended version of "Opiate" and they've never sounded better.
