CROWBAR's Kirk Windstein Isn't Sure DOWN Will Do Another Record

"I don't know. It's not in my hands."

Down recently announced 25th anniversary shows celebrating their 1995 album NOLA, specifically at the 2020 editions of the Graspop Metal Meeting festival in Dessel, Belgium, and at the Copenhell festival in Copenhagen, Denmark. For the shows, Crowbar guitarist and vocalist Kirk Windstein announced he'd be joining the band for the first time since 2013.

Of course this raised questions if Down would write and record their first new material since 2014's EP Down IV – Part II, and their first with Windstein since 2007's Down III: Over the Under. To which Windstein told The Void With Christina that he's not sure. Here's hoping though, right?

"Some special shows, or something, for the 25th anniversary of NOLA, we're talking about all of that. But as far as doing a record and all of that, I don't know. It's not in my hands.

"In all honesty, you see how busy everyone is – me with Crowbar, Pepper [Keenan] with C.O.C., Phil [Anselmo] with his 20 bands.

"I mean – if they were up for doing it and it didn't… My big thing, and I know Pepper feels the same way, and I'm sure Phil feels the same way as well – if it doesn't interfere with anything to do with…

"See, Down started out as a side project, and that's kind of where it would be again, where everyone's got their main things going on and Down would be done in the spare time."

Down is Windstein, guitarist Pepper Keenan (Corrosion of Conformity), vocalist Phil Anselmo (Philip H. Anselmo & the IllegalsScour), bassist Patrick Bruders (Saint Vitus, ex-Crowbar), drummer Jimmy Bower (Eyehategod), and keyboardist Big Ross (The Mystick Krewe of Clearlight).
