Deafheaven appears to be teasing the followup to their 2021 record Infinite Granite. Not much is known about the new effort right now, though the landing page for the album's mailing list is called Lonely People With Power. So maybe that's name of the record? Check it out here and stay tuned for hopefully some new tunes coming this week.
It'll be interesting to see where Deafheaven goes with this new record, sound-wise. Deafheaven popularized the blackgaze sound in 2013 with Sunbather, got into some proggier tendencies with New Bermuda and Ordinary Corrupt Human Love, and really leaned hard into a catchier shoegaze sound with Infinite Granite. So who knows what we'll get this time – I hope it's something the lines of Deafheaven's earlier stuff, personally. I'll also take the more aggressive sounds of the standalone singles "From the Kettle Onto the Coil" and "Black Brick".
