As we all know, last week Goodbye To Gravity played a show at a club in Bucharest that results in a pyrotechnics-related fire. Initially we reported that the fire killed 27, then it later came out that the death toll had risen to 31 and the owner of the club had been arrested.
Now it's being reported by Blabbermouth that the death toll has again risen, this time to 45, and that sadly includes the band's drummer Bogdan Lavinius. Lavinius passed away on Sunday, November 8, while he was being transported to a hospital in Switzerland by plane. As it currently stands, Laviunius, and both the band's guitarists, Vlad Telea and Mihai Alexandru, have passed away. The band's bassist Alex Pascu is currently in the hospital for burns and smoke inhalation, while singer Andrei Galut has made it to the Netherlands for treatment.
The fire has shined a new light on the lack of oversight in Romanian clubs and the protests in the aftermath of the fire have caused the prime minister of Romania and his government to resign from office.
I really, truly hope this is the last of the bad news we'll have to post on this situation.
