Twisted Sister vocalist and heavy metal icon Dee Snider announced on Twitter this week that he has secured a publishing deal for his first novel, Frats.

"Just made a deal to publish my first fictional novel 'Frats.' More details to come as I know them…" Snider tweeted on June 13.

The book will be Snider's first work of fiction, having previously written two other books: Dee Snider's Teenage Survival Guide: Or How To Be A Legend In Your Own Lunch Time, which was originally published in 1987 but was updated and reissued in 2019, and an Snider's official autobiography, Shut Up and Give Me the Mic, which was published by a division of Simon & Schuster in 2012.

In a tweet posted in 2020, Snider described Frats as a coming of age story set on Long Island in the early 70s, and was inspired by a true event, though Snider was quick to point out that Frats is in no way based on his own life.

2022 has proven to be a busy year for Snider, who aside from Frats, will be directing the horror film My Enemy's Enemy, which he also wrote. Last month, he tweeted, “Wanna talk about a major distraction? My next scary movie (I wrote & I’m directing) is green lit & starts pre-production in 4 weeks! In between I’ve got 3-week pre-planned vacation (two years ago before covid, cancelled twice). When I get home, I leave next day! Yes/Yikes!”

It has been a while since we’ve seen Snider on the silver screen, not since the cult classic Strangeland in 1998. Snider starred in that film, and wrote the story as well. In a recent interview, Snider stated that he My Enemy’s Enemy is in development with the same team that produced the Halloween films, Malek Akkad, and that principle photography would be underway this year.
