Now that Deftones have hit the road in support of Koi No Yokan, which comes out November 13, they are of course doing a ton of interviews. In these interviews, frontman Chino Moreno gets asked all the usual questions about his many side projects. One other thing everyone has been asking is if Chino will be getting into dubstep more after he collaborated with Bassnectar on the song Hexes for the Resident Evil: Retribution soundtrack. (Listen here.) Thankfully, he's not. When Consequence of Sound asked Chino if he was planning on breaking onto the over-played EDM sub-genre, he said:
“Not at all… Why did I do it? Because he’d asked me to do it. He’s a fan of ours and a friend of ours and I got paid a lot of money to do it for a soundtrack, it’s as simple as that you know? I love a lot of electronic music, I just… you know, I don’t have any passion for that though really.”
While he might not be raving anytime soon, he is coming out with a new side project called Palms, which features the former members of Isis. And that is going to fucking rule. ††† (Crosses) is also expected to release their third EP sometime in the future when Chino isn't busy touring in support of Koi No Yokan.
