Back in May 2015, Children Of Bodom parted ways with Roope Latvala, who had been with the band for 12 years at that point. The band at the time said "we parted ways with no bad blood," which clearly isn't the same sentiment Latvala shared about the situation.
In an interview with YLE, as transcribed by Blabbermouth, Latvala says he felt "stabbed in the back" and is still bitter about the situation.
"I really feel stabbed in the back by those guys," Roope told Finland's YLE. "I've been bitter at those guys. I was fired without an explanation."
Roope added that he felt that "Children Of Bodom's success had gone to" frontman Alexi Laiho's head and that Alexi started to "look down on" him for reasons that weren't quite clear to him.
As a result of being fired, Roope fell into a major depression and "started to focus on drinking."
"I couldn't touch my guitars," Roope said. "It was as if it was forbidden for me to play guitar."
Children Of Bodom has since replaced Latvala with ex-Norther guitarist Daniel Freyberg. Latvala also reveals that he has just begun playing guitar again, and has worked on new material since his departure from Children Of Bodom. So who knows? Maybe this isn't the last we've heard from Latvala.
