Wes Borland was always cool with me. The dude always seemed to have a level of self-awareness not found in some his nu-metal contemporaries. He's said that metal takes itself too seriously and when asked when the world would hear new Limp Bizkit music, he joked nobody wants to hear new stuff anyway.
Borland further kept it real when talking about Staind's Aaron Lewis. Both he and Lewis come from the Florida panhandle, and of course Staind was "discovered" by Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst, and were initially on Durst's "Flip" label imprint, so the two have history. But, during a recent interview on theĀ Talk Toomey Podcast, Borland said he would never speak to Lewis again:
āAaron LewisĀ also came up to me in an airport randomly, I happened to be going backā¦ I was visiting my parents in Jacksonville, and flying back to L.A.. And heās like āWhere ya headed?ā, I just happened to run into him and hadnāt seen him in awhile.
āHe goes āWhere ya headed?ā And I went āIām going home.ā And he goes āHome?ā and I went āYeah I just visited my parents, Iām going back home to L.A.ā. And for the record Iāve lived in L.A. longer than any other city in my life. He goesā¦Ā AaronĀ looks at me and he kind of turns his chin up and goes āNah man, remember where you came from, Florida is your home, not L.A.. Thatās home.ā
āAnd I just went āFuck you man.ā And I never talked to him again after that.ā
Borland was not done:
āThat guy is such a dickhead. So full of himself, such a dickhead, I wish nothing but the worst for him. Amen. I could not believe the audacity, and just like pretentiousnessāespecially for someone that acts like theyāre like a country boy now and theyāre from Illinois. Anyway, digusting person. No thanks, peace.ā
āā¦I donāt want be a shit talker. But I have no problem talking shit about that guy, heās terrible.ā
We'd like to add that Lewis famously chastisedĀ pop singer Christina Agueleria in 2011 for fucking up the national anthem, until doing so himself during the 2014 World Series.
