THY ART IS MURDER Clap Back At SUICIDE SILENCE Frontman's Backdoor Diss

Yesterday, we reported about Suicide Silence frontman Eddie Hermida throwing Thy Art Is Murder under the bus when talking about his band's evolving sound saying "If bands succumb to what Thy Art Is Murder just did, like, ‘Oh yeah we’re gonna save deathcore,’ and they write the same song they wrote on their last record, it’s going to die."

It was an interesting statement to make, because plenty of bands have had long, healthy careers not changing their sound. For fans waiting to see how Thy Art Is Murder respond, wait no more. Rather than addressing the controversy directly, they used the free publicity to create a marketing opportunity.

In response to all the shade thrown at them by Suicide Silence, Thy Art Is Murder released a "Make Deathcore Great Again" hat and when announcing it, they wrote "We don't need any more shade, we made our own."

Not one to hold back, frontman CJ McMahon seems to imply a bridge was burned between the two deathcore bands:

If anything, this feud, as manufactured as it seems is actually great for Thy Art Is Murder. These guys are now being positioned as the saviors of deathcore, just because they are the anti-Suicide Silence, a band falling out of favor with the deathcore community. Interestingly, both bands are on the same label here in the US, so you know they have to be loving all the free publicity both of their artists are getting off this. But the important question is – will this lead to more sales? I guess we'll see in due time.

Hermida himself responded to all the controversy, essentially laughing it off:
