Thrash band Flotsam and Jetsam have cancelled their upcoming tour due to a combination of low ticket sales and logistical issues. According to a statement from Flotsam and Jetsam, the tour was a real pain to get together thanks to transportation and crew shortages. This was made worse when a "an important crew member" cancelled on the band at the last minute, and sadly the death knell was low ticket sales.
"We had a logistical nightmare even trying to secure transportation and crew for this short run," said Flotsam and Jetsam. "There are so many great bands on the road right now that it’s making touring very difficult in what is a very saturated market.
"We had an important crew member bail on the tour at the last minute for undisclosed reasons, but the final straw was finding out that the ticket sales were poor. We definitely don’t want promoters to lose money booking our band, so we’ll reschedule at a time that makes more sense for them. We apologize to the fans that were planning on coming to see us on these dates and we hope to see you on tour soon."
Modern times are some of the hardest to be a touring band. Expenses are through the roof, merch cuts are screwing everyone over left and right, and shortages abound as every band tries to get back out there post-COVID. We wish Flotsam and Jetsam all the best with their future endeavors, and hope they can get back on the road whenever possible – they really are a great band.
