My Dying Bride was booked for, Madrid Is The Dark, Eindhoven Metal Meeting, HRH Doom vs. HRH Stoner, and Aalborg Metal Festival, in 2017, but ended up canceling all their appearances. Vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe said back in October the reason the band dropped off so many festivals was due to "a severe and fearful illness that has struck a member of my immediate family for which I have now dedicated all my time until signs of improvement," though at the time the band was still scheduled to play Maryland Deathfest 2018.
Unfortunately My Dying Bride has now dropped off that festival as well, which if anything means Stainthorpe's family situation may not have improved. Replacing My Dying Bride for the festival is Godflesh, who will also retain the band's headliner spot. Stainthorpe assured fans in his original statement that My Dying Bride is absolutely not breaking up despite these cancellations, and that there will be a new album in 2018.
We wish the band and Stainthorpe all the best.
