Iron Maiden just may have figured out a way to keep ticket scalpers at bay, as the band's 95% success rate would have you believe.

On the band's current tour of the UK, fans cannot purchase a ticket to a show without going through a rigorous security process. This includes scalper barriers such as multiple ID verifications, the promotion of “paperless ticketing,” and printing purchaser names on physical tickets. Despite these hurdles, the band has sold 100,000 tickets thus far and achieved a 95% decline in secondhand sales of tickets, as compared to its 2011 UK tour.

Here's what Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood had to say about the new sales method.

“We are delighted that the paperless ticketing system and other measures we instigated here in the UK have proved a massive deterrent to touts and counterfeiters. We want to thank our fans for their enduring support and patience. We appreciate that our stringent policy has meant fans having to jump over one more hurdle in the ticket-buying process but the results speak for themselves and I think everyone can agree this was well worth it.”

While this is great, let's see how it does in the long run, as people who are committed to being total bastards generally find their way around the rules.
