J.R. HAYES Wants More Noise & Bass On New PIG DESTROYER

Yes please.

Pig Destroyer 2024

Pig Destroyer is slowly working on their first new record since Head Cage in 2018, and sadly their first record since the death of noise overlord Blake Harrison in 2024. In an interview with New Noise Magazine, Pig Destroyer vocalist J. R. Hayes noted the band is putting together new material, but that it takes some time considering everyone has so many other things going on.

"We definitely have stuff in the works," said Hayes. "Some of the other guys in the band are really busy with other projects, and we're also busy in our personal lives ‘cause being in a band isn't our job. It's like trying to get a bunch of cats together. It's just hard; everyone's got their own thing going on, and you just have to get lucky sometimes."

On what he wants the new Pig Destroyer material to sound like and the absence of Harrison, Hayes added: "It's hard to get outside the box, but I really want to incorporate a lot more noise on the next record, a lot more bass–the last record was the first record that we really had a bass guitar on, and I think we want to take advantage of that–and make some really interesting arrangements."

Pig Destroyer is set to play Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest: Philly alongside kickass bands like Dismember and Exodus. Check that out here. It's also worth noting that Pig Destroyer dropped a killer reissue of Terrifyer in 2024 with a boatload of bonus stuff, which you can get right here.
