Jeff Walker On A New CARCASS Album: "What's The Rush?"

It'll be out eventually. Stop asking.

It'll be out eventually. Stop asking.

I think it's become so ingrained in music fan's heads that a band should put out an album every two-to-three years that when it doesn't happen, everyone starts asking where the new album is. On one hand I think it's reasonable for fans to wonder if the band is working on new music, but not to the point of being an annoyance in every single interview.

That being said, it's been two years since Surgical Steel and pretty much every interview with Carcass now touches on if there's going to be a new album or not soon. It's also a topic Carcass bassist and vocalist Jeff Walker wishes you'd shut the hell up about, as he's said in a recent interview with Rock N' Load.

"Not really. We're too busy touring, so… What's the rush? The last album only came out in 2013. We're still touring on that. There's still interest to plug it. This is so boring. The odd interviews that I do where people are already talking about a new album. To me, the last album, I still consider that the new album. It's still fresh, and we're still playing it, and it's still ticking over sales-wise, so what's the rush, you know? It took us, what? Seventeen years between Surgical Steel and [1996's] Swansong. So if there's another album or not… I mean, there probably will be, but… I'm not gonna give you any timeframes, but if it happened, it wouldn't be out that year, because it takes… The whole writing, recording, setting up the release just takes so long."

I've said it about a million other bands and I'll say it about Carcass- I'd rather wait longer for a good album rather than immediately get one as a forced follow up that isn't what the band wants it to be. So whatever! Plenty of other great new albums to jam in the time between, right?

Hell, plenty of Carcass to jam in the time between as well.
