The New York Post has reported that Johnny Depp will be appearing on CBSās 48 Hours Mystery on Sunday as a plea to reopen the murder case against Jason Baldwin, Jessie Misskelley, and Damien Echols; most notoriously known as The West Memphis Three.
Depp argues that the teenagers, who were convicted of murdering three 8-year-olds in 1994, were condemned on account of their devotion to heavy metal music, Stephen King novels, and the occult.Ā While Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley have already served 16 years of their life sentences behind bars, Damien Echols, who was sent to death row, is quickly running out of time.
Depp goes on to state:
āI firmly believe Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley are totally innocent. It was a need for swift justice to placate the community. Ā Damien Echols is on death row to be killed by lethal injectionā
The 48 Hours Mystery investigation is said to highlight new forensic and DNA evidence that could potentially acquit The West Memphis Three.
