JONATHAN DAVIS Explains The Cost Of KORN's Untouchables, Calls It Their Dark Side Of The Moon

"People use it to tune their speakers to this day."

Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch recently revealed he's not the biggest fan of the band's 2002 album Untouchables. Now in an interview with Metal Hammer, vocalist Jonathan Davis aired a gripe of his own about the record.

Davis said the astronomical cost of the album (rumored to be around $3 or $4 million) was mostly due to the band keeping their touring staff on retainer. "Simple fuckin' thing," he said. "They say it cost around four million dollars to make. I'd say 3.1 of that was keeping our entire touring crew on retainer for two years. That was a dipshit move; we should have listened."

Still, Davis adds that Untouchables is his favorite Korn album. He also mentions that audio enthusiasts use the album to calibrate their speakers, which… honestly I have no idea is true or not. If someone has, reach out! We're curious! "It's a very important record – one that couldn't be made in this day and age. I call it the 'heavy metal Asia' because of the production and sound-quality… people use it to tune their speakers to this day. It's our Dark Side Of The Moon, I love it. And that's exactly what I told [producer] Michael Beinhom – 'I want this to be our Dark Side Of The Moon'. He said 'Cool, it's gonna take a long time.'"
