Jupiterian has arrived to cover São Paulo, and the rest of the world for that matter, in darkness. The Brazilian quartet returns this November with their second studio album, named Terraforming. Since 2o13, Jupiterian has worked cosmosophy or science fiction horror into their sludge-ridden death doom. On Terraforming, their haunting trend continues with some subtle changes noted throughout its entirety. Take "Unearthly Glow" for example. The album's second track begins with some haunting synth-play before shifting towards a simple, soaring riff on which the entirety of the song rides. "Unearthly Glow" erupts into distorted guitars and towering drums following its eerie opening. V's earth-shifting bellow generates Jupiterian's deathly aura. His roar combined with the murky tones of the song's latter half showcases the Brazilians' heavier sides. However, observing "Unearthly Glow" holistically, the band's ability to marry synthesized atmosphere and crunching sludge metal is where they shine brightest.
