Here's a quick middle-of-the-week reminder that Dave Lombardo is basically never coming back to Slayer. I mean, we're over it. We get it. Lombardo's moved on with Philm and Slayer are about to put out a new record that ushers in the return of drummer Paul Bostaph. But for some reason, Metal Hammer needed clarification. In the cover story of their latest issue, they ask Kerry King flat out if he sees Lombardo ever returning. King's response:
"I would imagine. I've learned a lot … [Laughs] I learn something new every day, let me tell you. But I never say never, because I thought that door had slammed shut the first time. But is it shut today? Yeah, that lock's on there pretty good."
Translation: look, if in ten years, we've become inactive, and then somebody comes along and offers the three of us a lot of money to do a show, maybe… but other than a circumstance like that, the answer is no.
And it makes sense. The break up was messy and not amicable and they've been saying unkind things to each other in the press.
Hopefully, we can all just move on from this.
