KILLSWITCH ENGAGE Doing An End Of Heartache Anniversary Tour Would Be Tough, Obviously

"So that would be a discussion to see how we could go about doing something like that."

Killswitch Engage

Killswitch Engage's The End Of Heartache album turns 20 years old in 2024, though an anniversary tour would be a little tough. In an interview with Heavy New York, Killswitch Engage bassist Mike D'Antonio points out the glaring issue with doing a tour to celebrate the album – Killswitch Engage isn't fronted by Howard Jones anymore.

"It really hasn't been brought up. It'll probably be brought up now," said D'Antonio. "The unfortunate and weird thing is you've just gotta take into account that that's not Jesse's record. He likes that record a lot, but it's not him singing on it. So do we wanna force him into a situation where he's doing stuff that maybe he's a little less than excited about or just not as invested in. We play a lot of the hits from different records that Howard did, but we want Jesse to be happy too. So that would be a discussion to see how we could go about doing something like that."

Killswitch Engage has been joined by Jones plenty on tour, but generally for one or two songs. It'd be kinda weird for them to have a whole set with Jones, right? Unless the idea for a tour was one set dedicated to The End Of Heartache and then a second one with all Leach songs… but damn, that'd be a long show.

As for new Killswitch Engage material, vocalist Jesse Leach revealed back in February that he was just about done wrapping up demos.

"I've got the songs to show for it and I'm proud of my work so far! New album is almost demoed out and ready to be reworked and considered. Then on to re writing and deciding what the ideas and concepts are before we actually begin to attempt to record. Slow going for sure but I am really happy so far with what's come out of us. Grateful for a break and grateful to get back to it in a few days. I am fortunate, blessed and indeed lucky to be able to do what I do!"

In related news, it looks like there's a full-on reunion brewing between former Killswitch Engage vocalist Howard Jones and current Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam D. No details are known at the moment other than the two have confirmed they're working on new music together. So stay tuned for that.
