Jesse Leach is officially back in the fold at this point. He and the rest of Killswitch Engage are currently out on the Trespass America tour, rockin' it with Trivium and God Forbid, but before that the band had a little time to work on material. Before Leach re-entered the fold, the band had already had most of the music for the new record complete, but according to a recent interview with Leech, no vocals yet. Here is what Leech had to say:
“We’ve got two songs completed for our new record and another 12-13 to go that I’m gonna finish up in the fall…”
Speaking on former vocalist Howard Jones, and if he'd contributed in any way to the new record:
“Thankfully no, thankfully it was just music; it had no lyrics, no vocals —Howard hadn’t attempted to do anything—so it was a nice, clean slate. Brand new record, fresh, fast, heavy… I couldn’t be more stoked to sing on the record.
As a matter of fact, once I signed up to do the audition for those guys, we chummed around, had beers and they took me back to Adam’s house and we listened to the record and that totally sold me. When I heard the record, I was like, ‘I’ve gotta sing on this.’”
If Leach is planning on finishing up in the fall, I can see this one either being released in November, or being held until the late Winter/early Spring. But the possibility of hearing new Killswitch music, which Leach back in the fold, this year is promising!
