Great news! After last week's shocking and disheartning mid-show cancellation where Lemmy uttered the phrase "I can't do it," Motorhead are ready to give it another go in St. Louis tonight.
Motorhead posted a message on their Facebook page earlier announcing that Lemmy was suffering from a lung infection from the altitude in Salt Lake City, which caused all the cancellations. They also were happy to report that he has recovered:
ST.LOUIS HERE WE COME!
The wait is over and the Doc has spoken. Lemmy had a lung infection (exacerbated by that Denver altitude) which has now been taken care of. Subsequently, Lemmy’s ready to give it a go in St. Louis at The Pageant theater on Tuesday, Sept 8th where Motörhead will continue the 40th Anniversary tour in support of their new album “Bad Magic”.
Amidst all the wonderful support Lemmy has received, many have rightfully said he owes us nothing as he has given us everything. We, however, owe Lemmy something…our total respect for his fierce, single-minded and beautifully stubborn determination to continue burning asphalt, playing rock’n'roll and live where he has always been most comfortable – on the road!
Thanks again for all your support and see you soon!
I really hope things get back to normal tonight for Lemmy, as the crowds are ready for him. Hopefully, he can still go. And for all the talk of how Lemmy needs to retire, it's very easy to say that, I'm sure, without having a quick look at Lemmy's bills and debts. From what I hear, he may not be as rich as you might assume and the very real reason he is still touring is the same reason you have a job: Lemmy needs income!
