We are really excited about G.T.O. aka Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, the new supergroup featuring Brent Hinds of Mastodon, Ben Weinman of Dillinger Escape Plan and Eric Avery of Jane's Addiction. The band originally had Thomas Pridge, former drummer for The Mars Volta locked in to hit the skins but he is apparently out, so they traded in for another former Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore who is known for his jazz and fusion rock stylings. Ok, that's great… can we hear some music now you gaiz??
This information was revealed by Ben Weinman during a recent interview, where he gave a bit more insight into where the band is going:
"G.T.O. has been a long time coming," says Weinman. "Now that we have actually started creating together, it's great to see it all materialize into what I feel is some really interesting material."
He adds, "G.T.O. is a true collaborative effort, which in my experience rarely works, so I think we have something pretty special here. It just so happens to be with some of my favorite people and musicians.
"Almost every day this experiment seems to take on some new characteristic, and I think some of the people we've been talking to about contributing vocals would be a big surprise to many. It's even surprised me!"
