Maynard Deletes Tweets About New TOOL Album Upsetting Fans on Reddit

Is Maynard just trolling? Or sick of being bothered?

Is Maynard just trolling? Or sick of being bothered?

Was it too good to be true or are Tool fans just reading in to things too much?

It's been 11 years since we've heard new Tool music and while drummer Danny Carey has been pretty adamant about the new album coming this year, guitarist Adam Jones says the music is done and lyrics are being written, it wasn't until Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan said something that fans got really excited.

Maynard James Keenan, who has been shooting down any rumors that the album is anywhere near completion, supplied a pretty meaty update to fans saying he has lyrics written to all but one song:

Started getting music files from the boys w the word FINAL in the title a few months ago after 11 years of begging. That in theory means the tracks wont change out from under me while I’m trying to write stories and melodies to them. In theory. Still waiting for the FINAL on 1, …but way ahead. Words & Melodies 100% DONE on all but 1. Someday we’ll track them. Long way from the finish line, but at least we’re closer. Meanwhile new @aperfectcircle release on 4/20.

Somebody on the Reddit's Tool subreddit noticed that Maynard actually deleted the tweets that feature the above message.

Maynard deleted his tweet from r/ToolBand

This upset a few of the other Tool redditors:

One redditor even had a theory as to why Maynard even posted the message to begin with:

Another agreed:

While some acted upset, others pointed out, this is likely another troll, and that the message is still on his Facebook page:

So, should we be freaking out? Probably not.

Adam Jones has said the band will be heading into the studio for three weeks with Maynard in March. If we get any further updates, we will report back.
