About time we get back on the Megadeth reporting, eh?
The band has started writing new songs in the studio according to a Facebook post by bassist Dave Ellefson showing both himself and frontman Dave Mustaine jamming. Ellefson takes care of the fact that the band is writing new material…
"Dave and I are in the studio this week in California working up some of the new riffs. We're having fun, just throwing it down and keeping it chill.
These are essentially writing demos at this point so just grinding out the tunes like a metal band should. More to come…."
…while drummer Shawn Drover tackles the fact that it's heavy material, according to a recent Facebook post.
"Spent this week in the studio with Dave tracking demo 'ideas' for the next record-Some really heavy riffs going on here and if I say it you know its true."
The band has made it known they want to get back to a heavier sound coming off the less-than-well-received Supercollider record, so we'll see how much weight that statement holds! If I had to take a stab at it, I'd say we'll probably hear a new song toward the end of the year depending on how much writing and recording the band does on the road.
