Whoa. The press release from Rogue Records America goes on to say the label will be kicking off an IndieGoGo on June 9 that will seek out $70,000 to pay for all these artists' time, "production of all the limited edition swag they want to give to donors" and throwing a release party in Los Angeles for the event. The album will come out sometime this fall digitally, on CD, limited edition vinyl and maybe even a DVD with studio interviews and more depending on funding. Oh, and the label is also looking to release "a free mobile app that contributors to the campaign can use to watch rare videos of the artists, both in candid interviews and performances, as well as early mixes of the music that they can even give feedback on."
Sick! I'm totally on board with this! First of all it sounds like an amazing supergroup, and second of all it reminds me of the Nuclear Blast All Stars album that happened in 2007. No word on if the group will form smaller groups and write songs like that or if they're all just guesting on pre-written songs.
An Indiegogo campaign has been set up to fund this killer comp. More info here.
