Meshuggah guitarist Mårten Hagström has a bunch of solo material written, but there are no plans for it to be released anytime soon.
In an interview with Bloodstock TV, Hagström said he's got full albums written, but has no idea how much of it is actually fit for release. "[Two or three full albums] doesn't cut it," he said. "I've got more. But censorship aside though, if I wanted to really boil it down to something, I don't know how much was gonna be left."
Hagström said he's intrigued by the idea of doing a solo project, but hasn't found the time to actually sit down and make it happen.
"Meshuggah takes a lot of time. I mean, I wrote most of the last album, so I didn't have a lot of time to [work on anything else]. It's exhausting to pour your emotions into music and then have it judged by other people," he said. "And having to do it on your own? I'm 52. I don't give a fuck anymore. I can like just do it for fun, but I wanted to make it proper. And I wanted to make it so that it doesn't come as a Mårten Hagström solo album thing. I wanna just [do it when the time is right]."
