For the last few weeks in New York City, at 7pm, many folks in the city stop what they are doing, open their windows and start clapping and hollering as a tribute to the health care workers in our city, going above and beyond dealing with overcrowded hospitals. The initiative has been branded "Clap Because We Care," and one metal firefighter has definitely taken the initiative to the next level.
The firefighters at Lower Manhattan’s Ladder 15, along with other departments in the city, have been visiting hospitals during these shift changes to lend their support. Firefighter Louis DeRosa showed up with an amp and an electric guitar (looks like a Jackson).
The video went viral this weekend, hitting over 3 million views after being shared by the Uniformed Firefighters Association of Greater New York Facebook page. Kudos to Lou for bringing a smile to people's faces.
Here is a video of Ladder 15 member Louis Derosa playing the National Anthem at yesterday’s 7pm hospital visit to a Lower Manhattan Hospital.
