Elon Musk's New Venture Envisions People Will Listen to Music via Brain Chip Implants

Hard pass from me.

Elon Musk expects to update the world on his 2016 startup company Neuralink come August 28. According to TechCrunch, the startup aims to "develop computer-brain interfaces for the explicit purpose of helping humans keep pace with advanced artificial intelligence."

Neuralink revealed in July 2019 that it had already performed successful tests of its technology on mice and even apes, and that it would be pursuing testing on its first human subjects starting as early as the following year — which is this year, 2020, if you’re keeping track.

How? Well, all Neuralink needs to do is implant gossamer-thin wires into people's brains, connect them to an external processing unit, and have the two talk to each other.

Musk has now confirmed via Twitter one of the things Neuralink will be able to do is stream music.

I think I'll just stick with my headphones. At least if they get messed up or disconnect for whatever reason, I won't need surgery to fix it. Plus, having a device that's in direct communication with your brain seems like it'll invite a whole new level of hacking and manipulation.

At the very least, wait for the 2.0 version.
