Michael Amott Wants Jeff Loomis To Write More On ARCH ENEMY's Next Album

Arch Enemy's new album Will To Power is out now, and it's the first full-length to feature ex-Nevermore guitarist Jeff Loomis. Loomis didn't get to contribute to any of the writing on Arch Enemy's newest album, Will to Power. At the time, Amott said "he's a strong songwriter, but not in the style of Arch Enemy, I feel," later adding "I've always written most of the music, so it's difficult to… I don't really wanna change the sound of the band too much."

Fans of Loomis shouldn't be too upset, it's not a hard stance for Amott and he hopes to slowly work Loomis into the writing process. Amott tells Guitar World that he'd like Jeff to write more in the future.

"It's so easy to work with Jeff and he has such a great attitude that I can't imagine having any problems. And I can see him having a bigger part writing in the future. Of course, that won't change the band. We have been around for a long time and we have a certain sound, so our direction is always pretty similar. It's just evolving and becoming more refined, and I think Jeff will be able to be a big part of that."

Amott adds that he feels "lucky just to have Jeff playing solos on the record," and calls Jeff a "high-profile guitar player." Loomis has previously stated that he wrote three songs for the album that didn't make the cut, but ultimately he didn't have enough time between joining the band and the writing process for the new album.
