Along with a slew of other amazing records, we've been aware that a new Nile record was coming this year. The band is currently recording guitars for the new record according to the group's Facebook and a release later in the year is expected. Drummer George Kollias said in a recent interview the new album will be out in June, which will be followed up by a fall or winter U.S. tour. Observe!
The record will be the first since Nile's 2012 At the Gate of Sethu and it'll be interesting how the new stuff stacks up. I think a lot of people enjoyed the record, but there seemed to be a lot of complaints regarding the vocal mix and overall sound of the record. It was like Karl Sanders wanted to make a slam record but couldn't quite land on the proper combination… so, along with the proper staff, the attempt was left as was and released.
I've also heard rumors that the new stuff will deal with Egyptian lore. No word on how true that is.
