The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2016 nominees and some of these are long overdue.
Deep Purple, Cheap Trick and YES have all been eligible for quite a while, but this is first time being nominated, as far as I can tell. All absolutely deserve to be in.
Nine Inch Nails are eligible for the first time this year and they're on the ballot. Other nominees include Chicago, The Cars, Chaka Khan, Chic, The J.B.'s, Janet Jackson, Los Lobos, Steve Miller, rap group N.W.A., The Smiths and The Spinners.
In order to be eligible to be nominated, your first released had to come out 25 years ago. Over 800 artists will decide which of the nominees will make it and there is even a fan-voting option.
I'd say that it's a lock that NWA, Nine Inch Nails and Janet Jackson get in. It would be a crime if Deep Purple, YES and Cheap Trick weren't in there as well. We'll find out the actual entrants into the Rock Hall in December.
