Old Man Gloom vowed to carry on as a group after the tragic passing of bassist Caleb Scofield earlier this year, and have done so thus far with a series of tribute live shows and a scheduled appearance at Roadburn 2019. The band has also been working on their first new album since their 2014 double release The Ape of God.
For the new record sessions, Old Man Gloom appears to have recruited Cave In & Mutoid Man frontman and guitarist Stephen Brodsky as their bassist. It makes sense considering Cave In and Old Man Gloom have been touring together lately, all those dudes have a history together, and Brodsky and Scofield were bandmates in Cave In.
No official announcement has been made just yet on if Brodsky is a permanent member or not. Old Man Gloom is guitarist and vocalist Aaron Turner (Sumac, Split Cranium, ex-Isis, etc.), guitarist and vocalist Nate Newton (Doomriders, Converge, ex-Cavalera Conspiracy, etc.), and drummer and social media overlord Santos Montano (Zozobra).
