If you're not familiar with Old Man Gloom, you're missing out. If you're not familiar with Old Man Gloom's Facebook, you're severely lacking in periodic rambling entertainment. If you're familiar with both, great!
Anyway, it's been three full years since Old Man Gloom fooled the world and released two albums both named The Ape Of God at the exact same time alongside a fake third album to the media only, but there might be a new one this year.
Here's what the band had to say about the potential recording process.
There is finally something in the Old Man Gloom calendar. It's not entirely in the calendar, as in theres no exact date, but its possible that we want to do something in the fall.
It isn't playing a show. I won't tell you what it is but it rhymes with "la'cord a feckerd".
This is still completely open to:
1. Abandonment
2. Failure
3. Disinterest
4. Lack of resources
5. Lack of effort
6. Forgetfulness (in all seriousness, the main culprit when failing at Old Man Gloom.)
I go back to work this week on some superhero TV show, so i'll get back to posting a bunch of amazing bullshit. I only post when i'm working. Someone has to pay for this gold. You think gold grows on gold trees?
Please share your excitement that there may be more GLOOM in your future. Or tell me what i've missed in the last week. Or tell me how you feel about superhero TV shows. Or whatever.
While it's good news all by itself that the band may be recording a new album, it's also pretty great considering the group had been saying there was likely nothing regarding Old Man Gloom to do this year.
Just as a quick refresher, Old Man Gloom consists of guitarists and vocalists Aaron Turner (ex-Isis, Sumac) and Nate Newton (Converge, Cavalera Conspiracy), bassist and vocalist Caleb Scofield (Cave In, Zozobra), and drummer and Facebook overlord Santos Montano.
