One family that didn't have the most pleasant 2016 is the Osbournes. By now you've likely heard the news that Ozzy cheated on Sharon with his hairdresser. Sharon threw around some really serious accusations too, saying she might not be able to ever trust Ozzy again, and that he's cheated multiple times with multiple women. In the end, the relationship persevered and the couple worked it out and renewed their wedding vows over the Christmas holiday.
After all, this wasn't the first challenge in the couples nearly 40 year relationship. During an interview promoting her new memoir, There Is No F*cking Secret, Ozzy's daughter, Kelly Osbourne revealed to Page Six that one day as Sharon Osbourne experienced a seizure as a result of cancer treatment, she watched her dad overdose.
Kelly recalls that when she ran to tell her father they needed to go to the hospital, “Dad was there in his boxers, and I watched him scoop his hands into a bowl of pills, swallow a handful of something, and then wash it down with vodka.”
Later in the ambulance, “he leaned over to put his hand out to see if mum was breathing. Then he passed out with his hand over her mouth . . . The EMTs tried to pull him off, and Dad, not knowing where he was or what he was doing, started to resist out of habit. They pulled over the ambulance and started to call the police.”
The story notes that the EMTs attempted to call the police, but Kelly begged them not to. Instead, they restrained the Prince of Darkness by tying his arms with zip-tie. After they arrived at the hospital, Sharon was being treated in one room, and Ozzy was rushed to a separate room to be treated for a drug overdose and alcohol poisoning. Kelly noted that Ozzy would have a doctor come over and shoot him up with whatever he wanted while Sharon was dealing with cancer because he couldn't stand the thought of losing her.
The Page Six articles is not all a bummer. Kelly shares a touching story about late actor Robin Williams, who helped save Sharon's life:
Williams, she says, “Climbed into bed with her . . . He stayed there all afternoon, and throughout the house, you could hear her cackling with laughter,” Kelly writes. “Shortly after he left, she told us that she’d decided to go back and finish chemo . . . Robin Williams helped save mum’s life.”
For what it's worth, Ozzy says he's been sober lately, even while going through the separation to Sharon. But what a road to get to this point!
